New art

27 January 2010

[SinglePic not found]Finished this new piece right before leaving to Japan…  The colors weren’t too exaggerated from the original.  Rasta moth maybe?  Also coming up is a huge show for the U.L.Z crew and everyone involved with The Ulysses Guide to the Los Angeles River book.  The show is at the Pasadena Museum of California Art with the opening reception on Feb. 13 , and open to the public from Feb. 14- sometime in July.  There will be many panel discussions, demonstrations, and all the art from the book will be there including the piece I did.  I got to see the rough draft of the layout for the exhibition and it just blew me away….    As the installation is built  I will keep posting the progress and updates….. I highly recommend this event, it involves some  of the most talented and determined artists working at their best.

Back from Japan…

Japan was great as always.  Learned allot from Miyazo, which was the reason for the whole trip.(make sure you check out his link)  Also payed more attention to the details in the scenery  this year.  The shrines and temples were even more amazing when you slow down and look at the craftsmanship that has shaped many tattoos.  In Kyoto we went to the Golden Pavilion (Kinkaku-ji), and then the “silver” temple (Ginkakuji).  In Osaka we went to Kaiyukan aquarium and book shopping.  Must say thanks to the crew at Three Tides for the hospitality, and of course to Miyazo for the art and knowledge he passed down…..

Just finished this Hannya  painting and have many more paintings coming.  I believe the Hannya will be in a show called New Beginnings hosted by Inkfatuation, a benefit for children with cancer.  Also will be thinning out my collection of personal artwork, so anybody interested please send an email to view available pieces.  Finally in trying to keep up with the times and numerous requests we have added a paypal section to the site.  This feature is there only for those we know and apologize to those that we don’t, but we are a private studio and are not open to the public… Thanks to all for the support and check in soon
